Umino Hanayo

Hanayo was impressed by the self-confident, commanding young man Gekiro was. He was a strict clan head and just as strict as a husband. Hanayo endured his antics and his paranoia. She raised their children Wataru and Nami lovingly and tried to be the counterpart to his big expectations and emotionless demeanor. But she never dared to show it in front of him. She would've never defied him. Maybe she thought that he was too strict sometimes but it was her job as his wife to support him and care for him during his illness, so she build walls around herself which she wasn't able to break down after his death. Her grandchildren are the only ones who can lure out the loving, gentle soul hidden between the silent, judging stares.

Umino Wataru

Wataru is a calm and collected person. He cares for his clan a lot and wants all his family members to be happy and well looked after. Because of that, he might seem a bit controlling sometimes. It isn't easy to step into his father's footsteps; some of the older members think him "too young and too soft". But he has decided he wants the Umino clan to be open-minded and peace-seeking. Ending a secluding tradition that is generations old is a hard piece of work but he is determined to make the clan better for his children whom he loves and cares about a lot. (Yes, he looks a lot like Iruka but their fathers were identical twins).

Umino Sorairo (neé Ashikaga)

As a born Ashikaga, Sorairo is from a renowned Kirigakure clan herself. She met Wataru at a diplomacy meeting between the two clans when they were both children. They became friends and after Wataru decided to settle for one woman instead of many, he realised that she had always been there to support him. Their friendship slowly grew into love but he was still very nervous to ask her out. Takaya was happy to help.

Sorairo is an outgoing, friendly person who likes looking after people and cooking for many. She is always a good source for the newest gossip because she is very observant. Her children are most important to her and she is best friends with Wataru's sister Nami.

Umino Junichiro

Junichiro is a good name to have for a first born son and a future clan head, even though Wataru always claims he will let the twins decide for themselves who will be next in line. Junichiro has always been the dominant one of the two though. He's expressive, outgoing and a good leader but he sometimes misses to see the big picture when he gets excited.

Umino Ryo

Ryo is the younger one of the twins and he's always the one holding Junichiro back if he gets too excited. Ryo knows rules and etiquette which Junichiro tends to forget. They share a lot of interests and happily train together to become good shinobi. So far, they've done everything together and it will stay that way. Together, they will be the perfect team as shinobi and as clan head.

Umino Nanami

Wataru named her after Nami to show how much he appreciates his sister. As the clan head's baby girl, she might have been a bit spoiled... but that doesn't stop her from becoming a formidable shinobi. She is a happy spirit, even though she sometimes loses track of the people around her. This streak of selfishness does not stop her from cheering everyone up more often than not.

Umino Nami

 Wataru's little sister and the third important woman in his life. She is a happy, independent spirit who can see something good in nearly everything. Like Sorairo, she likes to gossip but she also needs time away from people. She then goes to the cave to meditate. As one of the most talented dolphin fighters of the clan, she mostly teaches the young carriers of the bloodlimit, even though children sometimes annoy her to no end. She loves her son but she leaves lots of his upbringing to Raku.

Umino Raku (née Ishikawa)

Once upon a time, Nami and Raku did an infiltration mission together because their genjutsu talents compliment each other. It ended with the two of them growing very close and eventually falling in love. Raku is a loving father, talented and responsible shinobi, even though he's a bit arrogant, old-fashioned and snobbish sometimes. It's not easy for him to accept that Nami is the one making decisions but he loves her and their son, so they make it work. Even though they argue a lot.

Umino Hitoshi

Hitoshi inherited the Dolphin bloodlimit and has considerable strength, even as a toddler. He's very active and energetic but also volatile. The only constant in his life is his family and the knowledge that he will be a great shinobi. Everything else, he changes very fast. He is self-confident and a bit unsensitive for the feelings of others. His cousin Nanami is his best friend but he does not make it easy for her to like him sometimes.

Umino Takaya

He is the same age as Naruto and energetic in a very similar way. Takaya is a tiny but very determined man who knows what he wants. He loves planning and organising events (especially weddings) and every other situation where he can boss people around. As a sensor ninja, he is highly sensible to other people's feelings and often knows how to give emotional support in the best way possible. He never trained this ability for fighting though. His main focus is on genjutsu and he is one of the most talented and knowledgeable people of this field in all the shinobi countries. More than a soldier, he's a scholar. And a weirdo. And a good mom.

Umino Kuro (née Tachibana)

Kuro is an elite ninja from Kirigakure and mostly known as 'Takaya's boryfriend' and 'Kuro-chan'. They met in Kirigakure's LGBTQ community which Kuro helped to found (all their meetings basically happened in his flat, he had an open-door policy). His mother kicked him out when he came out to her, so he decided to take care of people who struggled with their sexuality like him. He loves cooking and helping people who are lost to get their life back on track. But when it comes to his own life, he is a rather changeable character. He doesn't like to settle for things and rather leaves the door open instead of making decisions. Learning that Takaya is pregnant with his child, though, gave him the push he desperately needed to actually settle with someone. And he enjoys finally having found a family in the Umino clan.

Kaito-chan (yes, he keeps this honorific all his life) is a calm guy. His brain is wired a bit differently, so he often comes up with weird ideas other people would never think of. Even though he never instigates shenanigans, he is up to nearly everything if he's asked for help. He loves music and plays shamisen and guitar. If he's bored and has no instrument at hand, he throws shuriken patterns into tree trunks. He enjoys spending time with his friends (he has lots) and playing with his siblings (they adore him). If he's inspired, he either composes music or makes up ninjutsus.

Umino Ruka                                                                                     (Takaya aged 24)

Ruka is named after Iruka because he somehow looks a bit like him. Kuro always jokes this is the proof that Takaya isn't faithful but he doesn't really mean it. Having inherited Takaya's small size, Ruka tries to make up by being loud. He likes to play pranks, make jokes and acts as a troublemaker to always be the centre of attention. This makes him come across as arrogant and selfish sometimes. Shinobi training is a nuisance to him, he's very talented and doesn't need to train hard to be good. So he has a lot of time to hang out with friends. He hates household chores and always talks Chiyuu or Aizen into doing them for him.

Umino Chihaya                                                                        (Takaya aged 27)

Takaya still claims that Chihaya and his twin brother Chiyuu are not his (even though he was quite obviously pregnant with them) because as children they had blond hair and blue eyes. Chihaya is a quiet and strict person. He likes rules and being able to control his surroundings. The craziness of the Takaya household is pure hell for him, so he moves out as soon as he can and joins the Kirigakure shinobi. He's very intelligent and intellectual, likes books and studying. Just like Takaya, he studies genjutsu but in the traditional way and doesn't understand Takaya's approach. Mostly because he is rather emotionally detached which results in him being a loner. He has no sense of humour. His favourite activities are reading, being annoyed and complaining about everything (Chiyuu is the only one who listens).

Umino Chiyuu                                                                         (Takaya aged 27)

Chiyuu is a born sensor. Therefore, he is highly sensitive to everything that goes on around him and very reluctant to participate in social events. Even though he struggles with his ability, he doesn't let it slow him down. He's very determined and strong-willed. Just like his parents and siblings, he wants to become a great shinobi even though he is not very talented. So he works hard. He has lots of stamina and huge chakra reserves. His emotions are very strong, nearly 'explosive' and he works hard to keep them contained because if he loses his head, he is a natural catastrophe. So he studies fuinjutsu to control it. In his free time, he practises drawing seals or listens to Kaito-chan play guitar (or Chihaya complain). He loves using chakra to make people happy (seals magic, he's not a genjutsu type).

Umino Aizen                                                                            (Takya aged 31)

Aizen is an absolute sweetheart. Just like his father, he loves helping people to the extent that he is mothering them. As an independent and autonomous person, he loves looking after others and can't sit still when someone else is working. Even though he has a very small chakra resolve, he is a formidable shinobi because he inherited Kuro's talent for kenjutsu. He is very much his father's son (and he might just be Takaya's favourite... of course, Takaya doesn't have favourites).

Umino Chou                                                                          (Takaya aged 34)

Finally, a girl. Kuro might have used a few tricks to make sure that his sixth child would be a girl (he couldn't stand the thought of having any more kids). Chou is basically a female Takaya, only more bossy. Even though she is the youngest, she knows how to make her brothers do what she wants. And she can be very scary. She loves pink and shiny things (preferably those that make people bleed) and doing other people's hair (she doesn't care about her own hair though). As an adrenaline junkie, she likes doing stupidly dangerous things for no real reason which had Takaya nearly die in worry a number of times. But no one is going to tell her what to do except herself.

Hatake Minato                                                                     (Iruka aged 34)

Minato is very much like his father. It's not only the silver hair and the facial features, he also has inherited Kakashi's calm, nearly stoic demeanor. But not because he's troubled, he just doesn't show his emotions and has problems communicating them - he is autistic. He needs harmony and peace in his life and hates all kinds of conflict. So he always tries to solve problems as soon as they occur. Like Kakashi, he is a literal genius, talented and very observing.

He only does what he has to do for training but if he's set his mind on something, he can work really hard to achieve that goal. He has an analytical gift which enables him to learn new techniques by just watching others and can copy fighting styles easily. This makes him a feared opponent and earns him the nickname "Copy Chameleon" (he doesn't like it but Kakashi is incredibly proud) and a moderate bounty in the bingo book (Iruka would be terrified if he knew so Kakashi makes sure not to mention it).

Sometimes, it seems like he doesn't care but he's just okay with how the world works. He can get very protective of his siblings though when he thinks they are in danger. In his free time, he likes to read adventure novels, listen to music, cloud-gaze, meditate, do kenjutsu training or play with his siblings. He has a passion for dancing and is very good at it because he copied many moves from professional dancers. They are also mixed into his taijutsu.

Toyoo cares a lot for his family. Minato, his parents and his sister are the people he loves to spend time with the most. He has a very peaceful nature and despises violence. He's also not very talented in shinobi techniques and rather clumsy. He wants to make people happy instead of hurting them. That's why, after passing his genin exam, he decides to step down as shinobi to learn how to cook perfect Ramen instead (Ayame teaches him). He wants to become a chef and maybe have his own restaurant one day. Iruka is very supportive, Kakashi struggles to accept this decision. In his free time, Toyoo likes to listen to music, read non-fiction or romance novels, cooking, baking, gardening, cuddling with pa (Iruka) or spending time with big bro Minato.

Aio is very protective of her twin brother, even though she is the younger one. She loves to make him laugh with stupid pranks she plays on her parents (who sometimes actually fall for them and not only act as if). Her confident, bold demeanor usually gets her the attention she needs. In her free time, she likes dancing and training with dad, playing pranks, being with her many friends or climbing either rocks or trees. She also laughs a lot and her sunny personality is the reason that Kakashi smiles a lot more often these days. The two of them have a very close relationship. Iruka would smile and call her a "daddy's girl".

Umino Kazuma

Kazuma was the prodigy of the Umino clan when he was young. But he didn't like the clan structures very much, so he joined Kirigakure instead. The clan head dismissed his request to marry the (disabled) woman he was in love with and sent Wataru to assasinate her. This made Kazuma break with the clan completely. His only good relationships in the clan are with Iruka and his nephew Takaya. But no time can heal wounds like this, so in the end, he decides to leave Water Country for good to join Konoha. One reason for that might be a certain single mom...

Umino Reney

Reney-chan is a year older than Takaya and comes from the second Umino branch. He struggled to become a shinobi because of his sensitive, peaceful nature. He much rather spent time with his only friend Takaya whom he fell in love with very quickly. Takaya was the only one who actually listened to all the stories he had in his head and saw him for who he really was. They build a hut in the woods together and decided they wanted to get married in there when they were old enough. But Reney-chan knew his parents wouldn't like it. They had high expectations for him to become jounin, marry a jounin kunoichi and have strong Umino children. Reney-chan knew he would never be able to do this and it put him under a lot of pressure. Takaya was his only comfort. Then, Takaya left for two years. His parents found out about their relationship and there was nothing left to help him battle his depression. Reney-chan wasn't a fighter, he could only withstand it for so long. Then, he died on a relatively easy mission because he riled up an enemy nin he knew he would never be able to beat.

Katsega Tomi

Tomi is a pharmacist's son and friend of Takaya. He dreamed of becoming a shinobi from very early on but was born with an inability to mold chakra. So he just collects  knowledge about shinobi history and seals until this knowledge is needed to save Iruka. And Kakashi, in his position as Hokage, might even find a way to make Tomi's dream come true.

Tomi is easily excitable and a real nerd for Konoha. The first Hokage is his idol. He's very outgoing and social but often gets confused or says things which confuse other people. Growing up in Kirigakure, he also grew into the LGBTQ community there and learned to be confident with his sexuality from very early on. Takaya thinks that Tomi could help one of Iruka's friends who still struggles with the fact that he likes men. And Takaya loves to play match-maker. Who cares that Tomi is 19 and Kotetsu 34?

Kurokaze Yoko

After the Infinite Tsukuyomi, Yoko decided to give up her life in Amegakure and moved to Konoha. She is a very talented medical kunoichi and found a job at the hospital right away. Despite all her talents and her good looks, she is very shy and insecure and gets easily embarrassed. Sakura tries to help her but she doesn't really know how. Izumo met Yoko when he was brought into hospital after being injured on mission. And maybe it was the poison but he thought she was an angel and wasted no time to ask her out. Maybe he can do a better job at boosting her self-confidence than Sakura. It isn't easy though because Kotetsu demands so much of his attention and Yoko would never come between them and their special friendship. She is a very caring young woman who loves babies, so she did the training to become a midwife. But she hopes to have her own children one day. Hopefully with Izumo. Hopefully after their wedding. But she's way too shy to suggest something like that.

Izumo Yayuna

Yayuna is one of the last descendants of Konoha's Izumo clan. She is a determined person and knows what she wants to achieve in life from very early on. Her bloodlimit earns her a lot of respect and suspicion - the Izumo clan had never been very popular. So she looks forward to leaving that name behind. Maybe by joining one of the more prestigious clans of Konoha...
